Adbee Markaz Kamraz  (AMK) condoles the demise of Sheikh Muhammad Usman, the proprietor of  Gulshan Publishers and Sheikh Muhammad Usman & Sons, who breathed his last in a New Delhi hospital Monday.

Mr Usman was the among the pioneers of his family in establishing a publishing house in Kashmir which heralded an encouraging era of book writing particularly on history, religion, culture, politics and literature of Kashmir. It was Mr Usman’s endeavour that numerous writers in Kashmiri, Urdu and English were encouraged to write and compile books of significance in Kashmir. It was because of the selfless efforts of Mr Usman that writers of Kashmir were provided an opportunity to reach to wider audience outside Kashmir.

AMK heartily acknowledges the contributions of Mr Usman and his family in promoting Kashmiri language and literature through their respected publishing house.

“It was because of this publishing house that some of Kashmiri literature could be translated into other languages,” said AMK President Dr Aziz Hajni.

Recalling his professional association with Mr Usman, AMK General Secretary Dr Shujaat Bukhari said he was personally committed toward Kashmir’s history, culture, language and literature and always ready to help writers of his motherland.
