AMK discuses classical status for Kashmiri

Working Group constituted to prepare report    

Srinagar, June 14: MLC Muhammad Yousuf Taing Monday said that Kashmiri language has a strong case for getting classical language status “as history provides sound and authentic evidence about our language being ancient and enriching”.

“We’ve a strong case for getting it this status,” he told a meeting of Adbi Markaz Kamraz (AMK) where threadbare discussions were held for getting classical status to Kashmiri language.

Members of Parliament, Sharif-ud-Shariq and Ghulam Nabi Rattanpuri, MLA Nizamu-ud-Din Bhat, former Chairman, J&K Public Service Commission, Muhammad Shafi Pandit, Secretary Cultural Academy, Zaffar Iqbal Manhas, Director Doordarshan, Rafeeq Masoodi, Director Radio Kashmir, Bashir Arif, prominent writers Farooq Ahmad Nazki, Dr O N Koul, Dr Rattan Lal Talashi, Prof Mashal Sultanpuri, Zameer Ansari, Shabnam Tilgami, Rukhsana Jabeen, former Director General Tourism, Saleem Baig,  Coordinator and President AMK, Aziz Hazni attended the meeting.

The meeting also decided to constitute a working group to prepare a report with AMK president as its convenor and Prof Rehman Rahi, M Y Taing, O N Koul, Farooq Nazki and Dr Ratan Lal Talashi as its members.
