AMK organises book-release function

Lively literary event attracts cross section of society  

In a lively literary event organised by Adbee Markaz Kamraz  (AMK) at the Seminar Hall of J&K Academy of Art,Culture and Languages, Lal Mandi Srinagar, three Kashmiri books Makalme, a translation of Plato’s ‘Dialogue’ by Prof Iqbal Nazki, Yati Nor-e ser Arz-o Sama, Haj guide and travelogue  by Abdul Ahad Hajni and Vachek Tingal, a poetic collection of Sufi poet Ghulam Muhammad Mir were released.  Noted jurist Bashir Ahmad Kirmani presided over the function with Prof Aga Ashraf Ali and Abdul Qayoom Wadera, Director Doordarshan as Guests of Honour in the presidium. Besides the representatives of AMK, a galaxy of poets, writers, educationists and civil society members attended  the function.

AMK General Secretary Dr Shujaat Bukhari presented review on “Makalme,” whileas Abdul Khaliq Shams and Farooq Shaheen read out their reviews of Yati Nor-e ser Arz-o Sama and   Vachek Tingal respectively. The authors of the books  also spoke on the occasion.

Bashir Ahmad Kirmani in his scintillating presidential address highlighted the need of translations for the promotion of Kashmiri language. “We have to translate the important books on science, philosophy, religion, politics and education in Kashmiri language, and vice versa,” Kirmani emphasized.

Appreciating the efforts of AMK for promotion of Kashmiri language, Prof Aga Ashraf Ali also stressed the need of translations saying Prof Iqbal Nazki’s translation of “Dailgoue” is a valuable addition to the treasure of Kashmiri literature.

Earlier in his welcome address, AMK President Dr Aziz Hajni announced that AMK is going to broaden its base by establishing units in all the districts of the State and also in the cities like Delhi and Mumbai. Saying that AMK is working since decades to ensure Kashmir language is made integral part of curriculum, he said it is a potent way to promote and preserve the language. “With the help and support of civil society, AMK will re-vitalise its language movement efforts,” he maintained.

Among others who participated in the literary event include Secretary JKAACL Khalid Bashir, Director Radio Kashmir Srinagar Rukhsana Jabeen, Shahzadi Simon, Atiqa Bano, Farooq Nazki, Prof Shad Ramzan, Justice (R) Bilal Nazki ,Prof Muhammad Zaman Azurdah, Prof Nasir Mirza, Ghulam Nabi Gowhar, Mushtaq Ahmad Mushtaq, A G Baig Athar, Fayyaz Tilgami, G M Gamgeen, G N Aatish, Aijaz Ahmad Kakroo, Prof Noor Ahmad Baba,  , Ayaz Rasool Nazki, Mrs Rageshwari Mattoo, Shakil Qalander, Nusrat Andrabi, Hawa Bashir, Muhammad Ahsan Ahsan,  Shahnaz Rasheed, Showkat Ansari, Zameer Ansari and Ranjoor Tilgami.

Noted theatre artist  Muhammad Amin Bhat conducted the proceedings.
