Similarly, the community centre at Soura will be named as Khwaja Community Centre.”

He said the fountain at Bishembar Nagar, Munwarabad, would be named after legendary Kashmiri singer Ghulam Hassan Sofi. “We will soon identify a place to be named after singer Abdur Rashid Farash,” he said.

Sagar said people should be remembered while they are alive. “We should shun the posthumous culture and should remember our greats while they are alive,” he suggested.

He stressed the need to make people aware of the departed souls and their contributions at the basic level. “All of us who are here know something about these four but our children do not. We should focus on schools to make our children aware of our stalwarts in different fields,” he said.

The Mayor also assured every possible help towards development of art, culture and the society in general.
